James Massallay (born 9 November 1952) is a Sierra Leonean sprinter. He competed in the men's 400 metres, 800 metres, and 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics.[1]

Massallay qualified in three events at the 1980 Summer Olympics. On 27 July 1980, he finished 7th in his 800 m heat and 5th in his 400 m race, failing to advance in both events.[2][3]
The following week, he was selected as the second leg of the Sierra Leonean 4 × 400 m team. The team finished 8th in their heat and did not advance.[3]
Massallay's race was used as an example of the intersection between colonialism and the Olympic Games.[4]
