Summary

[edit]

Description: Detail from photograph of Herbert Sullivan and his uncle, Sir Arthur Sullivan at the triennial Leeds Festival, 1898. Scanned from Lawrence, Arthur. Sir Arthur Sullivan, James Bowden, London, 1899; also published by Duffield & Company, New York, 1907, plate opposite p. 220.

The persons shown in the full photograph are: standing from left to right: Wilfred Bendall (Sullivan's secretary), B. W. Findon and Herbert Sullivan. Seated, L-R: Lionel Monckton and Sir Arthur Sullivan. The women are not identified in the photo caption, but from Sullivan's diary of the date, it is likely that they were Beatrice Chisholm and Minnie Thorold, with Marco the dog.
