After a long wait finally able to see this is and like always THE ANIMATION ALWAYS TOP NOTCH 
and as a big fan of MAKOTO SHINKAI it was an honor to watch it in theaters

Loved the story having SHINKAI'S Fantasy involved.....the best MOVIE DIRECTOR ever seen creating masterpiece after masterpiece

It was a breathtaking experience. Literally so much Detailed and the animation,the story telling everything was a 10/10. It made me feel like you don't have to go to Iceland for a good experience We were getting that experience in the theatre.Makoto Sensei you genius🙌❤️‍🔥

Yeah true i really like shinkai's works and needless to say suzume no tojimari it was great movie but they should've used more of main theme song (Ru Ru Ru part) like they did in your name with sparkle

i had watched your name a while ago and didn't really like it so I was skeptical about this film

but honestly it was great, really enjoyed it.

Just completed it now. It’s based on the Fukushima tsunami in 2011.

yesterday he (makoto shinkai) was present in Andheri West theaters for almost 30mins so he just shared how he made this movie, inspiration, his voice acting skills etc... so i assumed you were present in Andheri too... 😔

Lucky you! The movie hits hard after watching a bunch of documentaries about the tsunami and its aftermath. People are still recovering from that and slowly returning to their hometowns. But it’s still has the same eerie feeling.

yup the heaviness in his voice when he was describing about the incident was very obvious... i hope all the people's recover well

Actually, the situation is dire. Even after a decade many people don't want to return due to radiation fears. Also, clearing the ruble and rebuilding homes is damn expensive. The regulations/paperwork surrounding clearing of waste and building new houses is too strict. The trend of depopulating towns and villages is not helping either.
The term haikyo used in the movie refers to abandoned building(s). Its very easy to find them in Japan outside Tokyo city. Japan is not alone facing this phenomena, all the developed countries have the same problem. Low birth rates and migration to cities is causing the countryside to become deserted.
The wall shown in the end, was built to hold off waves of tsunami but its become a nuisance to the local people, as it blocks the sea line(difficult to know if there's an incoming tsunami) and displeasing to look at. It also, reminds people of the 2011 tsunami disaster.

me tooo, just watched it today and it was fun and it was the first time i went to the movies alone and it was frickin amazing!!
