Why isn't there an entry for the episodic version on MAL?

Title.

Pardon me if this has been asked before, I searched the forum and relevant posts but couldn't find it.

I wish I'd known about the 7 episode version, I think I would have enjoyed that one more. It had quite a good OP and ED too. Seven normal episodes seem to fit the series better than two hour long episodes too.

But putting all that aside, why is entry not on MAL?

I think unless there are specifically new/missing scenes they normally pick the first format.

@WestOnAndrewAve Aww, that's a shame. But wait a minute... The 2 part version do have missing OP and ED? Or are they not counted as scenes?

Why would those be counted as "scenes"?
they're just a repeated sequence of the same music and visuals, i think making an entire separate entry for that would be silly.

@N0T3LI_ I do not agree. But it's okay, MAL doesn't have to do it. Maybe adding the info on the Details page would be good though.

It would just be a waste of effort and money to put extra scenes and even if it’s not like it’s a difference since there aren’t any new scenes. They did this too the other way around with re;zero

Take for example the mugen train movie and episode version, they added 1 new extra episode and some scenes. That’s why there is an actual new entry

MAL tends to do things exclusively by when something happens on Japanese TV, I.e, if it didn’t broadcast on Japanese linear TV, it didn’t happen

It would be a waste of money for MAL to write in the "Background"-section that there are two versions of the entry with differences in them?

For those clueless that it exists:

Yes, there is a version that is split into seven normal length episodes instead of two long ones. They have their OP and ED like any other anime, quite good ones I think. They do not have any new scenes, unlike the 2-hour movie version which has a new post-credits scene. I think they can be viewed on Japanese Netflix and in other countries. Not in Sweden where I live though.

(Personally, I thought the pacing was bad in the two episode versions so I might've liked the ending more if I had known about and switched to the 'normal' version instead.)

It would be a waste of money for the studio to Add extra scenes and that’s why it’s not on MAL. The website doesn’t work because you want it too

Also another reason it's stupid is because it skews the ratings. For example, when an anime says "top 100 rated of all time" theres probably only like 50 included in that because of the vast amount of duplicate seasons. continuing to add entries for no good reason is a stupid idea. (they should do it less, and only when necessary.)

@TommyTheWeeb139 Ah, so you were talking about something else, okay. How about the "Background"-section suggestion?
The website works fine for me, it's up and running. If you are having problems with it you should ask for support.

@N0T3LI_ Good point! Summaries should also probably just be within the longer entry, instead of having their own.
