Asà Givens, born Asamoah Kyei Baffour Gideon[1] is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter with Nigerian heritage.[2] His upbringing in Ghana exposed him to diverse cultural and musical influences, fueling his passion for music.[3] He combines elements of Afrobeat, R&B, pop, and funk in his work, creating a sound distinct from conventional Afrobeat tracks.[4][5][6]
Early life
[edit]Asà Givens was born in Kumasi, Ghana, on December 27, 1997.[2] He lived in Kumasi until the age of 10 before moving with his family to Accra.[1] Asà Given interest in music grew stronger, and by the time he was in Mawuli School, he began writing his own songs.[4][5][6]
Career
[edit]Asà Givens began his professional music career in 2016 under the stage name Ksongz with the release of his debut single, Ijo.[1][7] Asà Givens made a strong return to the music industry in 2024 under his new stage name as he explained that “Asà” reflects his Ghanaian name, Asamoah.[8][3][4]
