García Ximénez or Garcí Ximénez, legendary King of Sobrarbe (717-758). He was anointed in 717 with the consent of Pope Gregory II, and was the first Christian monarch of the Iberian Peninsula to be anointed as such after the death of Roderic.
This monarch is credited with the first reconquest of lands occupied by the Muslims: in 724 the town of Aínsa, in present-day Huesca and its Sobrarbe region. He was the chieftain of Pamplona.[1]
