HaleBot Instructions
[edit]Hey @0xDeadbeef,
For Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/BunnysBot 2 BRFA, I would like to run Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories in my userpage. I've seen you are a maintainer of HaleBot, as listed on it userpage and Toolforge Account. Pinging @Legoktm, another maintainer.
I have access to toolforge, but am having a bit of confusion when trying to set it up. I would be grateful if you could help me by giving some basic instructions, like a link to any guide on WikiTech or some specific cmds to run that particular DB report. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 07:11, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- there is sql code at Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories/Configuration and you can use quarry to obtain the list to work through. No comment on the bot task itself though. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 07:58, 24 November 2024 (UTC)

CheckUser
[edit]Greetings, 0xdeadbeef, I hope you are doing well. I see that you have been promoted to full SPI clerk. I believe that the CheckUser tool will help you to assist your SPI cases in a better way. When will you be applying for the CheckUser tool set? Regards Maliner (talk) 18:21, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Maliner: I'm not sure if I can currently commit enough time right now to learn how to use the CheckUser tool set to contribute. I'm fine with being a SPI clerk for now. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 11:56, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
Moving an article from the Russian-language section
[edit]Hello! I wanted to transfer an article from the Russian wikipedia to the English version, but found that an article with the same title was removed from the English wikipedia in 2017 for copyright infringement. I would like to transfer the article from the Russian Wikipedia, observing all the rules of Wikipedia with the indication of authorship, of course. How would it be better and more correct to do this? Please give me some advice. This article would be important for English users. MorozovKa (talk) 07:57, 4 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @MorozovKa, please see WP:Copying within wikipedia to see instructions on how to leave attribution. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 11:55, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
nixOS
[edit]nixOS is cool, and it's cool that you contribute with it.
That is all. /home/gracen/ (yell at me here) 15:50, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey thanks! :D I've used NixOS exclusively for about one or two years now. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 06:06, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- I use Arch (btw) and really have no interest in switching to anything else, but I've heard a lot of nice things about nixOS (and a friend of mine is considering switching from Gentoo). How is it? /home/gracen/ (yell at me here) 15:56, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- The main selling point is quite good: a reproducible system with configurations that can be uploaded to a repository and be saved effortlessly. The bad parts is that the tooling is not very good, documentation is not the best (definitely not as good as the Arch and Gentoo wikis, those are really really good), and the language is often confusing. 0xDeadbeef→∞ (talk to me) 10:09, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

WikiAuthBot2 on Russian Wikimedia's alternative server
[edit]Hello! We at the Russian Wikimedia's alternative all-projects Discord server (I'm its owner) would like to invite WikiAuthBot2 to be used as an auth bot (as the old WikiAuthBot is not working for quite a while so we are currently authenticating members manually). Thanks! Well very well (talk) 20:31, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
