[edit]Hi, this entry was deleted and im pretty sure it has a place in wikipedia as i've seen a lot of other entries which are very similar if not the same as it. Could you tell me how it needs editing to be a worthy entry such as Enterprise Vault The two pieces are literally identical, how can one remain and the other be deleted? Thanks --AdamSurch 16:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Please explain why you removed the copyvio notice from Sport (software). The creator has yet to follow the procedure at WP:CP to verify that he is indeed the copyright holder. Until such proof is forthcoming, it's still a copyvio. Corvus cornix 21:21, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
There are procedures for a creator to prove that they're the copyright holder. I pointed the creator of the article to those procedures, but he hasn't bothered to do anything about it. Are we now supposed to just take people's word for it that they're the copyright holder and take all claims of copyright ownership to AfD? How many copyright violations will be kept based on the notability of the subject matter, despite the creator not really being the copyright holder? Corvus cornix 21:30, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I did tag it as a copyvio, you removed the tag. What am I missing? Corvus cornix 21:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I tagged it as db-copyvio, which is a valid tag and supported by WP:CSD. This is setting a bad precedent. Corvus cornix 21:37, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Please do not take down my criticism, you are contradicting the criterion that fill your Bio, in regards to censorship especially. Please do not censor my criticism, as it is completely valid: there are bands that have only one record, on small labels, that have Wikipedia pages. I am offended by this, and don't want to take it further. Please reply to this comment.

It is clear that consensus was for this article to not be kept. However, I think that (X)HTML as a redirect to XHTML#Relationship_to_HTML, as suggested, would be a better close. I strongly believe (X)HTML would be a valid search. What are your thoughts? i said 04:22, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Exel Computer Systems plc and EFACS E/8
[edit]Carlos,
You deleted my article on Kamla Millwood. It is your loss. I will not be rewriting it. She is all over the net as a model who is a positive example. But I guess because she is Black and Christian and a college graduate who never did drugs...is not good enough for Wikipedas standards. Therefore she is better off NOT on this website.
Sincerely,
Abecca
Hi Carlos
I am trying to create two articles. One is regarding a company called Exel Computer Systems plc and the other is regarding their ERP Software called EFACS E/8. Please can you confirm why these articles have been deleted??
I have looked at WIKIPEDIA for details on other ERP Vendors such as Baan, Epicor, Microsoft, Syspro - all of which go into much more detail than I have. This document is purely for people to look at if they have an interest in ERP Software? There is no advertising intentionally included but looking at other vendors; some claim to 'be the best' etc.
I have been asked to re-create the two articles and would therefore like your permission to do so. None of the work is copyright and it is purely for information purposes.
Please could you also tell me how I can mae it easier to locate my articles, as I have noticed that the whole article name must be entered before the search/go will find it??
Thanks

fring
[edit]Hi Carlossuarez46,
Please reconsider your deletion of the fring article.
The deletion of this article seems very biased, seeing that skype, pidgin IM etc all have articles and this is exactly the same type of article. fring is a new mvoip system but it is in over 150 countries already making it very notable. The references are valid and there is no difference between references in the fring article and the skype article.
I beg you to reconsider.

Revisiting Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sport (software)
[edit]PLEASE REVIEW I am leaving you this message because you have participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sport (software) I have reduced the Sport (software) article to a stub with one valid assertion of notability which can be verified by a reliable source and is properly cited. From digging through the sources that Mr. Badger provided, I have concluded that the software has just made it under the wire to qualify as notable because it was the subject of a lecture at an international symposium of SmallTalk programmers about a week ago. I have tagged the article for Wikipedia:WikiProject_Free_Software and I have posted a note about the article on their TO-DO list. The article is not what Mr. Badger envisioned, but it might be worth keeping now. Mr. Badger has had many Wikipedians drill into his head warnings about the problems with his conflict of interest and unfamiliarity with Wikipedia standards and practices, and from direct email correspondence with him I am sure he will comply. Please let me know what you think of these changes. Thanks very much. OfficeGirl 00:23, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I've done as much as I can to help with this article, since I am not in the software field. I feel that there's a fair amount of prejudice lingering over this article because of the article's originator and his frustration level trying to participate as new user (including the frustration level that we were experiencing from him while he was reeling from the culture shock. WP:BITE.
- Mr. Badger is in fact the founder and leader of a non-profit group of Free Open Source Software developers (OpenSkills) which has been determined to be notable enough to have its own article on Wikipedia well before Mr. Badger ever signed on to Wikipedia. The European association brought him from Australia to Switzerland to give his lecture, and he is an annual lecturer with them. Mr. Badger is telling the truth when he says that Sport is well known among SmallTalk users, and it is widely discussed on user forums-- in fact it is mentioned in a ho-hum "everyone knows that software" tone. Those are not sources we can use in a Wikipedia article, but their existence was persuasive to me that the software actually is well-known and has a somewhat wide usage in the field. In addition, this is free software-- not a for profit sales venture. I am still inclined to think that a stub is perfectly appropriate in this case.
- Anyhow, thanks for taking a look! OfficeGirl 01:05, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I am looking forward to joining in with the editing work on the Wikipedia article on your thesis. Lemme know when it comes out! ;-)

Prof Lynn
[edit]Hallo! I'd started building up an article on the late Professor Martin Lynn, a leading historian of West Africa and an active Quaker in Belfast. You'll note that he rated an obituary in ''The Times'' - an assurance of notability in itself.. I've still got a notion of putting up stuff about him, but of course if it's going to get zapped then there's obviously no point. Before I do anything, could you let me know what, in your view, would qualify Lynn for not being zapped? Thanks. Aluredian 21:01, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Why the speedy deletion?
[edit]An editor has asked for a deletion review of The International Society for Professional Innovation Management. Who does the actual reviewing of what is and is not appropriate and what qualifications do they have? I was very excited by Wikipedia and it has left me very frustrated...please advise what I can do. SkiersBot
[edit]The Bot is just picking up a stub template on the article page. If the article is a redirect, it shouldn't have any stub templates on it. Sort of a "catch 22" situation here - bot is doing the right thing, but the wrong thing is on the article page. My guess is that the majority of these were redirected because of name changes, but the person/bot that did it didn't remove the stubs and other non-essentials for a redirect page. IF you can give me a concrete example of when/where this happened, it might give a clue to the problem. What I'd like to do is to have the bot either recognize the stub & redirect together on the article and flag it for further attention, but have been stymied on how to get it to do this. Any suggestions on how to get this done would be greatly appreciated! SkierRMH 20:23, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks - I think I see the problem with that one - I did the database "scrape" on September 1 for all of the biography stubs and started the bot on that day. That article was still marked "stub" on that day, changed on 9/4, and the bot was going off of old data. When I get back to the computer that's running it, I'll do a comparison of the articles that are still in queue to verify they're still article stubs. (I didn't think it was going to take this long to go through them - but there have been a few thousand that were caught by the bot so far!) Theoretically that will 'fix' this part, but still leaves the problem of mis-marked redirect pages. I'm thinking a quick scan of the redirect pages to see if any of them have any non-essential markings would be beneficial, not just for this, but to catch any other stragglers :)
- I've caught multiple instances of this with film and album articles that were turned into redirects - and have put a "caution" flag on them to keep the discussion/tags away - as here Talk:Girls Girls Girls!

Hi, I started this article as a stub because I've worked for this group and since they do a lot of research, congressional testimony, host events, and regularly appear in the news, it would be useful to have it referenced in Wikipedia explaining what exactly this group is. While think tanks have been in the news for influencing policy, perhaps negatively, they run the gamut from ultra-liberal to libertarian. I just think it would be useful for people. I think it was a good stub, I hope it can expand. Thank you for putting time into wikipedia, I write and edit articles as a hobby and its people like you that help maintain it as a good community source of info.

Of course I can, the game is notable for a variety of reasons,
1. Mentioned on sites such as IGN, Gamespot,
2. The game is a Xbox 360 tile, if you want something on Live Arcade it can't be a game from a company now one has heard of, to be eliegable it has to pass certain tests.
3. Blazing Lizard was formed by Veteran game developers from various companys, who have coded Commercial games on a variety of consoles.
4. IGN, Gamespot, etc don't put unknown non-commercial games on their lists.
So has you can see this game is know to the community, it is also mentioned on some of IGN's podcasts, I belive I was wrongly penalized, and I am hoping to get that strike removed. --Elven6 00:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Runestone categories
[edit]Dear Carlossuarez46, another editor has averted me of your and Wimstead's category changes, and I want to talk to you about it because your changes have led to a certain mess. Scholars don't categorize runestones according to modern country borders, but according to those that Sweden and Denmark had historically. All the runestones in Denmark, Blekinge, Scania and Halland are categorized as DR, e.g. "DR 360" which means literally the "360th catalogued runestone of Denmark. However, this runestone is located in south-eastern Sweden, in a region that only historically belonged to Denmark. In the same manner, there are several Denmark runestones in Schleswig-Holstein which today belong to Germany. An easy way of avoiding conficting views of what constitute "a runestone in Denmark" or a "runestone in Sweden" is to simply divide Denmark into a Jutland category, a Danish isles category and a Skåneland category, where the Jutland category is categorized both as Danish and German and the Skåneland category is both Swedish and Danish. Moreoever, a name such as "Runestones, Denmark" has the advantage of not pretending that a "Denmark runestone" needs to be in Denmark, but only makes a connection between the two. If you insist on keeping the system you created, you need to present a solution for making the runestones of Scania, Halland and Blekinge both Danish and Swedish and the runestones of Schleswig-Holstein both German and Danish. I wait a few days for you and Carlossuarez46 to propose a working solution. If you don't, I will have to try to revert your changes. Regards,--Berig 18:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I have certainly never intended anything but an overturn of the moves and WP:DRV as to the appropriateness of the consensus decisions which only included two or three voters, IIRC.--Berig 19:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Zeitgeist the Movie
[edit]I'm trying to work out why this film has been barred from having an entry on Wikipedia. I noticed that you were involved in some of the debate and so I thought to check in and ask you for your opinion.
It doesn't seem to me that it can realistically be considered "not notable" any longer as it is achieving 35,000+ views daily on Google Video and is causing a massive stir all around the place. Please check the movie's page on Google Video and google the search string "Zeitgeist the Movie" for verification here. Virtually all the material used for the film is sourced on the creator's website. There have been articles in mainstream media about it - see The Globe and Mail (Toronto Newspaper). In addition, I would suggest, that, given one of the principle contentions of the movie itself - namely that the mass media is under a degree of control vastly greater than that recognised by the public - there should sensibly be some form of case made here regarding mass media recognition. Particularly bearing in mind that there have been articles written in mainstreatm media now. So I'm at a bit of a loss to understand the position that Wikipedia has created for itself. Can you enlighten me at all? I very much appreciate any time you could take to explain this to me.

It really irked me that the guy nominated every article he could find about America's diverse heritage and argued that these should be deleted because he doesn't like that type of article, no matter how well written. HeinekenTheClock protests against deletion
[edit]My literary piece of art was recently deleted by your destructive hands. My words, though reproducable, will never take the exact form as they had on the article "the Spoony Bard".
The reason it was labeled for speedy deletion was "patented nonsense" e.g. "Content that, while apparently meaningful after a fashion, is so completely and irredeemably confused that no reasonable person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever."
I think that although my piece was not totally conform the habits of you wikipedists, I think that in no case whatsoever it would be "irredeemably confused that no reasonable person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever".
Quite the contrary, my piece was grammatically well-structured with little to no misspellings, had quite a bunch of links to supply viewers that were oblivious to the subject with the information they needed.
Pardon me, but if you didn't understand that article, I'm afraid the tables are turned, that I am the reasonable person and you irredeemably confused.

- Who sets the threshold for what's ready to be made public and what's not? – SJLARIN 20:02, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Nationalism studies is a significant academic field that you are just not aware of. I have been working on an expanded draft of the article in my spare time. The public article listed several universities that offer graduate degrees in this field, which should have been enough to establish the notability of the subject. – SJLARIN 20:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Links to the web sites of graduate programs at major universities that provide degrees in the field do not establish its notability? I think that you are applying your own standard, not Wikipedia's. The article is obviously not finished and needs to be referenced, but there's no reason to be so zealous in deleting other people's work. – SJLARIN 21:15, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

List of patent trolls
[edit]May I request a reconsideration of your conclusion on this debate: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of patent trolls. To me, there was no consensus. Lack of neutrality is a weak reason for deletion (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#How to discuss an AfD). The article can be salvaged. --Edcolins 19:30, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I do not share your view, there was no consensus. I strongly disagree with the process of closing a debate when there is no consensus. Polling is not a substitute for discussion. The expression "Patent troll" is more than a pejorative term. The list is very interesting and the specific economic strategy of the patent trolls is an interesting way of managing and enforcing patents (search "patent trolls" on Google Books and Google Scholar - the study of patent trolls is even becoming an academic field as such - that's why the list is encyclopedic). The fact that the media view some companies as acting as patent trolls is a very interesting evolution of patents both from an economic and legal perspective. Please restore the article. The term is notable and the citations were verifiable: see Patent Terrorism – Terror of the Intangibles. There is a List of designated terrorist organizations. A list of designated patent trolls has certainly a place here. --Edcolins 20:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

AfD comment
[edit]Dear Carlos, I just had a concern about your comment at this AfD and wanted to make sure I understood correctly. Were you suggesting that I recommended "keep" because of WP:ILIKEIT, and a personal bias? I would like to assure you that if that is what you meant, it was absolutely not the case. I totally understand if you disagree with my rationale (heck that's what AfD is all about!), but my position comes out of finding reliable sources for its notability, and not my personal feelings about the subject matter. In fact, I must be doing an excellent job of maintaining NPOV if you feel my prejudices lean in that direction, which I assure you is far from the case. I must admit I giggled. Anyway, I tried for about 20 minutes to find some relevant diffs in my edit history about other deletions on religious topics, but unfortunately this one is the only one I could find. You'll find that throughout AfD, I have a long history of delete, keep, and merge/redirect recommendations, especially for notability issues based on the reliable sources (or lack thereof) I was able to dig up, across a variety of topics. If you were trying to suggest that I was biased in making my recommendation, I humbly request that you reconsider your comment. If not, I apologize for the confusion. Thanks for clearing this up for me! All the best, ~Eliz81(C) 03:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- OMG, thank the... ummm, powers that be!! Now I simply have to email you about this :P BTW, as I said, I totally understand your disagreement with my recommendation. And sadly, I must agree that reliable sources don't exist equitably across topics. I think we just need more sources willing to cover more topics, not penalize the ones who benefit from the coverage. Notable exception: for Voodoo Doughnut ROFL. Now there's a place you don't wanna go after Sunday School! ~Eliz81(C) 03:52, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

HHCL
[edit]Hi -- can you please restore this entry?
When the deletion proposal first arose, based on specious claims of non-notability, I offered clarification on why the extant citations on this entry confirm notability.
Two other users (NEITHER claiming any expertise in or knowledge of the advertising/marketing communications industry) then voted for deletion:
The first on the basis that 'ad agencies come and go, as do their clients' which is a truism about all businesses and organisations, rather than an argument against notability (either generally or in this particular instance!).
The second voter offered NO EVIDENCE to substantiate their opinion at all.
As a result of these votes, I assume, you have deleted the entry. Please reconsider that decision with my original, reasoned argument and citations in mind, balanced against these two votes from users who have offered no supporting evidence for their votes. If you stand by your decision to delete, then I will request a deletion review. Thanks for your consideration!
Darrellberry 11:39, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply: as I read it you are still unconvinced of the signficance of HHCL's contribution to UK popular culture and the marketing communications sector, even after your review, although that significance is repeatedly attested to in the articles cited on the entry you have deleted. However, point taken: in light of the (razor-thin) distinction which wikipedia guidelines make between fame and notability, if you could please restore the entry into my userspace I will do some further research to find additional articles in the 'major media' for citation... thanks again for the quick response!
Darrellberry 20:25, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, as to your 'major media' request: http://media.guardian.co.uk/mediaguardian/story/0,,676909,00.html is cited in the original entry: this is an article from the Media section of one of the UK's leading 'quality' newspapers. Likewise the also-cited article from the Financial Times at http://search.ft.com/ftArticle?queryText=hhcl&y=0&aje=true&x=0&id=030121008505&ct=0. If these are not sufficient to establish notability, can you please clarify what more would be necesary in your view, so that this is on the record for the deletion review? thanks
Darrellberry 20:43, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again for your quick feedback -- can you send me a copy of the entry as it was at time fo deletion? thanks

Marty's Line
[edit]You have deleted Marty's Line
Presumably this is due to potential blantant advertising. This assumes that the page promotes a site that needs advertising which by definition would support a revenue or profit generating endeavor. Marty's Line is simply a free resource offering free betting advice on NFL games. There is no revenue, there are no subscriptions, there is no affiliation with other sites generating revenue, there are no affiliate, there is no advertising. This is a pure content site from the early days of the webPruz1271 16:15, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Pruz1271
I was hoping you would review your deletion of Auralog. The article was PRODed on Sept 20th, which I removed on Sept 23rd with the comment that I had found a couple of articles on Google News establishing notability (one of the concerns in the prod) and would work to clean it up. Despite this it appears as though it was then marked for speedy deletion as spam.
I would just re-create the article but I had been hoping to use the previous content for reference. In addition I'm concerned my attempt would just be deleted due to the prior speedy deletion.
If you cannot / will not restore the article, is it possible for you to just send me the previous content so that I can work from it? Cheers! Richc80 01:53, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Raleigh Springs Mall
[edit]Why is the article being deleted?. The article is about an existing shopping center that is in current operation. The article contained clear and current information about the center. Other shopping center/mall articles exist. The article is as informative as EXISTING Wikipedia articles that relate to a particular Shopping Mall. The article was not written as an advertisement, nor was that the goal. The article objective. john 03:26, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
I am new to this process. The reply states to post my explanation and sourcing in my userspace. Is that the "my talk" page? So, I can simply explain that my article meet several key components of "notability", including Significant Coverage, Reliable (as multiple sources were used) and being Independent of the subject and it could get reinstated? I do all this in MY TALK section or in the RALEIGH SPRINGS MALL area? john 04:05, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

i might agree with you if it actually was spam, but it wasn't. as i stated to someone else, i was not using my user page to advertise anything from. i do not make myself a known entity on wikipedia. no one is encouraged to visit my user page. i don't understand how it can be considered spam. why it was on there is because i was using it to save my page so it wouldn't be permanently deleted and i don't see why i should have to rationalize to anyone about what is on my own user page if there was nothing offensive on it.

Okidoki, I don't really have any complaints on all that. However you are correct on the capitalisation of name Carleton-sur-Mer. This is confirmed by the Quebec government's municipality search website (of course all in French). That's why I spelt it correctly in the first intro line. The page title indeed needs to be changed. I TRUST YOU on that one as I'm too much of a novice page movement.
I have a question for you regarding a geolocalisation picture. The FR page uses a really pretty properly approved Canadian image. I'd like to use the same one for the EN page (as I did for the intro picture) but anyway I get to it, it's missing it's DOT. And I don't have the software to create a DOTed image. Thank you--Tallard 18:15, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Thank you much :) Could you help me with one more item, this will seem sooo novice, but I'm having trouble with the superscript template, as you can see with the table at the bottom of that page (sq km), I had no problem with the French version, I just can't figure it out. thanks again--Tallard 18:40, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Clinic in Sacramento
[edit]This is an article about free-standing HBOT clinics in general and Sacramento, California in particular. There are no other clinics in the area that are free-standing, but there are two others, both named in the article for the choice of the patient. Without this choice patients will most likely not get treated. The AFB clinic refuses anyone who is not active duty military. The Mercy San Juan, also referenced, will refuse anyone with any but a small select group of conditions. Lives are being lost, and 900 amputations per year are occuring due to a lack of knowledge of a nearby stand-alone clinic willing to treat.
The cost of Mercy San Juan is $2,500 per treatment for a 2 hour wound-care session, of which 40 to 50 are needed. The cost for the typical stand-alone clinic like the one is Sacramento is $240, or 1/10th as much, since it is operated as a medically-trained charity, and is not operated by a hospital. The facilities at a stand-alone clinic like this one is sometimes superior to the local hospital, in this particular case Sechrist 3400's vs Sechrist 2600's, for which references are being added, until I discovered the entire article randomly deleted.
Neutral information for urgent healthcare is critical to life and well-being of citizens in Sacramento and elsewhere.
Your decision to delete randomly is reducing the value of Wikipedia for those wishing to find information when time is of the essence, which is often the case with diabetic foot wounds and other serious injuries. The Castle
[edit]Note that these aren't the same films. This is a 1997 TV film by Austrian director Michael Haneke, who is a Cannes prizewinner. The other film is a 1997 Australian film by a different director (hence the confusion). Haneke's film was titled Das Schloß and this is the translated title (it's an adaption of Kafka's novel). IMDB entry, 10,500 relevant hits. Perhaps moves to something like "The Castle (1997 Australian film)" and "The Castle (1997 Austrian film)" and a disambiguation page are in order? Absolutely move it to its subpage. As for that source code, I admit I am proud of it. The algorithm it implements appears in dozens of audio programs, but I only got credit for in on Usenet and one enlightened employer (who now runs GNU Radio) who let me release it even though it was part of a work for hire. before 1999, the same process took absurdly long times to compute because all the known algorithms were over-precise. I corresponded with some of the authors mentioned, including Dolson and Puckette. The down side, of course, was that during the years I was working on refining it and the software that uses it, I had zero social life, and never recovered even half. Ad astra, though, on to better things I hope. 1of3 05:10, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm surprised with all the entries that ours, a legitimate post, was singled out. It seems like a malicious deletion to me...and there were no claims about it uniqueness due to cannibalism, unless someone else added them. I'm not sure what the angle is here but it certainly seems odd. Too bad.

Manipulation of WP
[edit]I read an article in the newspaper about manipulation of Wikipedia a few months ago. A few days ago, I saw a message board about someone banned from WP by a moderator just because he didn't like what was said (even though other message board contributors failed to see anything bad about the edit).
I just came across an article about an American presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton being one of them. The moderator there is bullying others and striking out comments. He claims socks but this is just an excuse for eliminating any discussion. As far as the comments that he objects to, they are nothing radical.
In fact, I just put a suggestion there and I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to eliminate me. If so, you should make the correction to the Prentice Position article. It has a major error. MD12752 04:27, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Cookshow Deletion
[edit]Hi Carlos,
I am inquiring to your deletion of the article ‘Cookshow’ detailing a new website that allows people to post their own cooking show videos. In the deletion log I did read a note of lack of references. As I am sure you saw from the article, the site is quite new (still in Beta) so of course new references will come along. In fact, there are a number of additional references that have come out since the time of the article to provide credibility for the site. If you could please detail your reasoning and how I can help to bring Cookshow back to the Wikipedia community I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for your time, Jamee

I hope I will have satisfied your concerns by then, but if not, please comment as you feel you should. Thanks for participating in my RfA. -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 08:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I created the category related with mini-stars for the de-clutering WikiProject Keep It Simple(see WP:KIS). No self-agrandizement there, just to know who has got and who didn't. Can be renamed Category:Wikipedians who received barnstars Dime lo que piensas, si ? Heltzen◩ 11:11, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- The reason why there are so few entries in the category is because only the mini-stars are categorising, the traditional barnstars are not. Anyway, your explanation makes sense, you have all the reason, go ahead and delete.Heltzen◩ 21:29, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have updated all the templates categorising to that category. As I am the creator and agree to deletion with the nominator (you), and no one else has touched the category, as per policy you can just go ahead and delete. Heltzen◩ 22:02, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Built to Serve
[edit]Please help me understand why articles get deleted. You deleted mine because a wikibully and his buddies decided it needed to be deleted. I just really want to know why? It was an article about a book. I wanted to provide someplace for people to learn about the book. I went to great lengths to make certain that it was written from a neutral perspective. Please help me understand, this was my first Wikipedia contribution and the whole experience has really turned me off from a website I've been an evangelist for. Andyhartman 14:28, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Another user pointed me in the right direction and that's why I have not chosen to try any appeals. The book is #15 on the bestseller list at Amazon.com, but I do not feel that is high enough to merit an article based on the information I was recently given. Perhaps if it tops the list then I will try again. As for calling someone a bully, I only do so if I feel that to be true. I can only assume you are speaking of RHawthorn. I am curious as to how you know I left a message on his page? I tried to enter him into a conversation to try to find out why he disagreed with my article, but he chose not to do so. He simply chose it was not worthwhile himself. I do believe he is a wikibully. Am I not free to think of someone as such? Andyhartman 01:21, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

American Monarchist Party
[edit]Why did you delete the article about the American Monarchist Party? Obviously it must be a very small and obscure group, but surely that is no reason to ignore its existence. There is a link to the (now deleted) page on the Monarchism page of Wikipedia, and there is no external link to the party itself on that page, while I assume there was one on the American Monarchist Party page. Windows Live and Ask search engines both still link to the (now deleted) Wikipedia article about the American Monarchist Party as well. These are all excellent reasons for keeping/restoring the page you deleted.
On a separate note, WOW, you delete a lot of articles. Perhaps you need to start getting second opinions BEFORE you delete articles rather than waiting for someone to protest. 4.224.216.144 20:19, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- As you note, the party is small and obscure which in Wikipedia parlance is the essence of being not notable. On your separate note: many of those deleted articles have second, third, and even often multiple opinions. If you think any of the deletions are wrong, feel free to chime up at deletion review. Carlossuarez46 22:16, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Patel (disambiguation)
[edit]Hi. You recently deleted the page 'Patel (disambiguation)' which I had created for one simple reason. So when Australian's like myself look for the doctor, Jayant Patel, we would not have to try to remember the first name as very few Australians do know of his first name.
I had nominated it as a stub, and someone else even helped me by establishing the article and now it is gone. Can I please have a simple explanation on MY TALK PAGE.
Thankyou and a fast reply would not go astray. Aflumpire 09:10, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Protest to your grounds for deletion- Article Name: Trent Kendrick
This should not be deleted because Wikipedia is a source to learn information about people and issues both current and historical. I, personally have used this site to learn about models which are currently coming to dominate the fashion scene and this male model is one of them. You may not personally use it to research people such as this, but it is a very helpful tool to some of us working in the fashion industry, especially casting directors. As this male model transgresses into what may be male "supermodel" status if you will, I am sure this page will continue to develop. Furthermore, many outsiders like to follow current working models and Wikipedia is a great way to not only keep up to date, but also gather background information on them. With that being said, I would see it as a selfish act to delete this entry. Thanks.07:11, 19 October 2007 (UTC)~—Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefashionspot1 (talk • contribs)

[edit]Prods on Bruce Lawrence & Michael Spence (academic)
[edit]I've removed the prod tag on Bruce Lawrence. The director of a centre at a major university is likely to be notable, and I don't believe lack of references is an automatic reason for deletion of articles on living people, as long as no material included could be considered defamatory. Moreover a cursory search at the Duke website found a reference supporting his directorship there. Regards, Espresso Addict 03:30, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Illeteracy is problem in modern world
[edit]Hello, world! :)
I'm writing here with good will and hope that this will not repeat again. My article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Sarmini is being incorrectly criticized by Carlossuarez46, as I believe. First of all:
Automatised translation (with minor correction concerning translation of arabic "al") from Babel fish for Mr.Carlos: "Ali al Sarmini: Expressionism - topic stage for intercultural communication between Berlin and Arabia Guest stay of Ali al Sarmini at the academy of art/exhibition.
One of the important Syrian painters of the present, Professor Dr. Ali al Sarmini, is at present for six months in Berlin and is a guest professor of the academy of art Berlin white lake..."
This already proves that he is known outside Syria, such as Germany.
Secondly, according to Syrian Arabic News Agency's article: "exhibition of Syrian artist , Ali Sarmini's paintings was opened yesterday in Moscow. The exhibition includes a number of paintings devoted to the occupied Syrian Golan , and to the liberated city of Quneitra which was destroyed by the Israeli troops before their withdrawal from the city. The most important painting is the one that carries the name of "Quneitra on the Remains of Their Bodies" which has attracted the attention of the Russian media , and Muscovites alike because it was painted on a wing of an Israeli Fantom warplane which had been grounded in the Syrian territories during October Liberation War. Director of the Russian Business and Management Group, Andreas Churkin announced that the painting will be auctioned at the end of August and its initial price will be USD 200 millions , and is expected to mount to one million dollars. He added that a number of Russian oil companies have shown desire to buy the painting. A.N.Idelbi"
Which means that he is known in Russia, and it is already internationally known.
In fact, you should read history of American Diplomatic Relationship, chapter about Middle East.
If you living in U.S.A. do not know anything about him, it doesn't mean that the rest people in this world do not know.
As for tone of article, I consider that there is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong about it. Show me if I am wrong. --Shahinaz 20:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Hexayurt - NYT not a reliable source?
[edit]I'm puzzled by your comment at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Hexayurt. According to WP:RS, mainstream newspapers are among the best sources, and it has a clear citation from NYT. --Chriswaterguy talk 19:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Carlossuarez46 19:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Was wondering if it that was the issue. The first one, obviously - details found at that link. Obviously not properly cited in that form. To point out the need for a correct citation would have been less work than deleting the article, and a lot more constructive. --Chriswaterguy talk 20:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

In reference to His Royal Highness Prince Muzzamil Mirza
[edit]Evening, It was upsetting to see that wikipedia does not care to place a minor article about a Prince in their database. Even after it was stated "a family tree will be provided". Also was stated the time consuming and "expensive" process in relation to the method of delivery process. The Royal family would consider this an insult. What was your reason for deleting this article? Is a family tree enough to "prove" royalty to your standards? If not, what else will be necessary? Good day...

RfA thank-spam
[edit]Thank you! Thank you for your help in my RfA. It hammered home a few things I need to keep in mind while admining and passed with a final tally of 40/0/4; two people forgot to vote in time, leaving me short of that exquisite number :-(, but I'll just have to fudge the next vote about me. Redirect of Vinea soft drink
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Vinea soft drink, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Vinea soft drink is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Vinea soft drink, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Blanking + protection of Bittersweet Poetry
[edit]Hi, why did you blank and protect this article ? I don't mind the protection (even though neither the history nor the discussion page give me any reason for the protection), but blanking is almost never the right thing to do — especially when the edit summary does not indicate why the blanking was performed ? Thanks ! Schutz 11:52, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, ok. Thanks for the reply. Indeed, it did not occur to me that it could be a deleted/recreated article. Explains everything. Having such a blank page come up in our list of short pages seemed strange. While I would like very much to see a tag or some text in the page instead of a blanking (basically, anything that adds at least 100 characters or so so that the page is not too short), I guess that this particular situation does not come up very often, so we can probably live with temporarily. Thanks for the reply, Schutz 17:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

"First few edits"
[edit]Yes, I'm a novice editor. I do not, however, appreciate the insinuation that my comment was anything but what it was at face value. Do you really think someone's going to make a sock puppet two years in advance, for something that small? Please. As it happens, I found the page through THA's, and I found THA through the Coheed and Cambria project. I saw an ill-informed question answered rather marvelously, and decided to applaud it. And you think that's suspicious? You're an administrator; haven't you ever heard of something called WP:AGF? Harukaze 22:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually I never have heard of WP:AAGF. I'm a novice, as you might recall. But seriously, look at your comment. Tell me that seeing that comment that I'm supposed to assume you assumed good faith? You have an issue with someone; I applauded that someone; and you didn't like it. It's pretty clear you didn't assume good faith, you flat out implied bad faith on my part. Strongly implied that.
