Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

A tag has been placed on File:Dried Gourd Oct 2008.webp requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.mbgourds.com/collections/raw-gourds/products/raw-6-straight-cut-bowl and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Ирука13 20:28, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Cut Gourd Oct 2009.webp requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you are quick …

[edit]

you could submit Madagascar banana for Wikipedia:Did you know

Any probs please ask. Chidgk1 (talk) 20:08, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused. Laffuble (talk) 20:28, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! I see. So it improves articles? Thanks for the insight. I'll make sure to add that! Laffuble (talk) 20:31, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
DYK for brand new articles is getting a link from the main page for a few hours. I think it would be very useful (and you can screenshot to show off to your friends and family!) for the article. It has to be started less than a week after it was moved from draft. Would you like me to get the process started under your name then you respond to any queries at leisure? Chidgk1 (talk) 06:23, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that would be great. Thankyou. Laffuble (talk) 15:21, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Laffuble Perhaps unlike me you are an academic - do you have access to https://www.jstor.org/stable/4109206 and is that what we need for the description do you know? Chidgk1 (talk) 12:54, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes i do have access. You can change the description. Laffuble (talk) 14:35, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But I don’t have access so I don’t know what he wrote - can you change it? Chidgk1 (talk) 16:42, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! You don't have access so you want me to change it instead? Also no one wrote or changed anything it was me. I'll still change it. Laffuble (talk) 22:07, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just read what you said on Did you know:Madagascar banana and your saying for the description you want me to add a reference or change a reference? where? Sorry for the delay btw. Laffuble (talk) 22:10, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No rush now we have got it in the DYK queue - the seven day limit is only to get it started.
I already changed the ref for description but could you possibly copy paste the bit it that cite for the species onto the talk page. Because I can only see the first page Chidgk1 (talk) 06:21, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry typos - typing on phone on tram Chidgk1 (talk) 06:21, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see reviewer has already copy pasted Cheeseman to DYK and rightly criticised me. Can you find good source for description? Chidgk1 (talk) 06:30, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes I will find (another) good source. It's not easy but, I will try. Laffuble (talk) 14:06, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't copy and paste y computers acting slow but here search this on your web browser: The Madagascar banana: A tropical delight Laffuble (talk) 14:15, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
or search: Madagascan bananas may soon be extinct, plantwise.org Laffuble (talk) 15:04, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or: What insects in Madagascar eat bananas? Laffuble (talk) 15:13, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copyediting

[edit]

Hello again @Laffuble,

I notice that you have sometimes copyedited in unusual ways - for example you edited to

… by French botanist named, Pierre Claverie, and …

I know my writing sometimes needs copyediting, but if you are not a native speaker of English please don’t waste your time copyediting what I write as there are plenty of people on English Wikipedia who seem to enjoy copyediting Chidgk1 (talk) 17:56, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry originally when you typed it it sounded off, so I changed it. Sorry once again. Laffuble (talk) 18:02, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No probs - I hope I am not one of the many grammar pedants here Chidgk1 (talk) 18:20, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
