Kiran Nadar

[edit]

Next time you leave a Talback notice, don't archive the thread. Also, just because something exists, there is no reason for something else to exist in the same way. We had a debate about adding Indic scripts and we reached a consensus to not have them as far as possible with a few exceptions. The archived debate is on Archive 48 of the India notice board. As for notability, it does not come from marriage, and in the case of Kiran Nadar, both the foundation and art gallery don't have articles, perhaps you could've created it first. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 04:08, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you know articles need to be created WP:BE BOLD and fix it. My only problem with your comments is that you seem to be constantly checking the stuff I do and tagging it for maintenance while you could use the same amount of time to correct or expand the article. However, if you have issues with the article's notability, please go ahead and nominate it and we'll discuss it there. Be constructive and help expand. Wikipedia needs us on articles, not talk pages. Noopur28 (talk) 04:58, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have better things to do. I'm not a stalker of sorts. I have other interests. I've improved the article to a certain level and leave it up to you to edit. Also, do remember, what happens, happens due to consensus. That can happen only on the talk page. Over and out. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:08, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've added two refs to Kiran Nadar, removed the tag as it seems to satisfy WP:GNG. I'm on the lookout for more refs as well as data, and hope to see you on the talk page as well. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:22, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Awesomesauce! Will expand the article tonight. thanks :) Noopur28 (talk) 10:34, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Errr, what is, Awesomesauce ??? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:48, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

hi, saw your response on my talk, you said I can't ask them to activate stuff in preferences or i would ve done so. From this i concluded that you have not completely understood me or it seems I was unable to convey my thoughts last time. I will try again .No , No you dont need to ask them anything to install or activate. these things are already there in the edit box for every user please check yourself, if you have not noticed so far. . you can use this to add a help message for the new users who use bare URLs as refs. I frequently come across such neew users so it would be good if some one can tell them in a better way how to do it. Hence I decided to make this template.

  • Now neither you nor they need to install anything. To tell the users how to add refs to wiki articles (copy paste below code)

{{subst:User:DBigXray/ref|sig=~~~~}}

using the code will add all the instructions (as seen below) along with your sign . as an example for you I am using this to add a this new sign. you can test this code on your Special:MyPage/sandbox as well. please ask if i am still not clear enough-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 04:40, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding reference on wiki articles

[edit]
Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello Noopur28! Please do not forget to add references for the content you add to Wikipedia. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,

This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. thanks and regards -- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 04:40, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is exactly what I am talking about. This cite button does not show up in all of their text boxes. Often, it doesn't even show up in mine. So, if I direct them to use this, what happens when it doesn't show? Noopur28 (talk) 04:55, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Often ? ? I always get the above toolbar whenever I am editing wiki. Even now as well. if sometimes you dont see it. it might be due to the fact that the page was not loaded properly and a refresh or page reload would certainly show it. see this tool bar is a standard feature of wiki page and is shown to all, irrespective of the fact that they have installed something or not.-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 05:13, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, not just me, User:Psubhashish faces similar issues when the 'Cite' button just disappears for a long time. We thought it might be a cache issue but, even after purging it does not reappear for him. I am attaching a screenshot for your perusal. So, in this situation we don't want to confuse the newbie especially if we are explaining referencing on chat/text/voice. However, we found a useful [reftag.appspot.com tool] suggested by User:AshLin for Google books and will use it in the future. Noopur28 (talk) 05:35, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for giving the screenshot, although I had not doubted your statement above but i will take this issue of cite not shown with the mediawiki developers at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Cite_not_shown_on_the_toolbar_on_top_of_the_editbox. This toolbar is a standard feature that shows up even for non registered users, if not visible then this certainly is a bug. the reftag.appspot is also useful but the editbox toolbar is a lot more handy (if it shows up :) ). Was just trying to help, continue with what you feel is better, cheers. -- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 05:42, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot man! :) Never doubted your intentions, of course. Personally, that 'Cite' button is my favorite way of referencing. Do keep me posted on what happens! Happy editing!!! Noopur28 (talk) 06:21, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But, now you deserve a punishment for scaring me :P Please come and help me expand the article on Kanchipuram Sari? Noopur28 (talk) 07:29, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ajit Chandila requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ryan Vesey Review me! 07:54, 14 May 2012 (UTC) What an interesting comment...thank you for your contributions to the Society. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fath1209 (talkcontribs) 19:07, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Noopur! Thanks for creating Ajit Chandila. I hope you understand that as an American who doesn't watch cricket, I had no way of understanding the potential the article had. Generally, it is advisable to create an article in your userspace if you can't create a claim of significance in your first edit. You are completely free to remove the CSD notice from your talk page if you desire. Ryan Vesey Review me! 15:22, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you have to give someone at least a minute to add a reference to an article that is just created. Or, perhaps just google it to see if the term is notable enough? Nominating for speedy deletion is a little harsh, no? I've made 27 articles so far, so I am fairly acquainted with the userspace idea however I prefer editing on articlespace. Thanks :) Noopur28 (talk) 18:40, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hey Ryan Vesey, that is quite a frequent problem here. Noopur, I suggest you create a few more articles. Once you cross 50, I'll nominate you for Autopatrolled. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:57, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the generous offer to resolve the frequent problem but, I suggest you read this once more: Wikipedia:HOUND#Wikihounding. I will not hesitate to contact you when I need help but, from my end this is the last message conversation I will entertain on my talk page which is not constructive or related to editing. Stalking accusation at User talk:Rsrikanth05‎

[edit]

Hello. I am an administrator on English Wikipedia. I saw your stalking accusation at User talk:Rsrikanth05‎, and that is a very serious accusation, thus I am investigating. I briefly looked into the edit history of you two as editors on Wikipedia, and the only article that I can see coinciding edits where you disagreed was during the writing of 2012 Guwahati molestation case which can be seen in the edit history for that page. I can't find any other pages you have editing with changes by User:Rsrikanth05, thus do not understand why you are accusing him of stalking. I would like to help resolve whatever problem there is, but I would like to see further evidence to support the accusation. Can you please point to any other locations where he has stalked your edits? Thank you very much, Sadads (talk) 13:37, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Noopur28, sorry that you feel that way. Please point out the specifics of my edits and if they are not approppriate, I shall be open for discussion. Also, every bit of Edit has been brought on talk section of the page and properly discussed. Despite my continuous requests, It is very unfortunate that you did not browse through the edit history. Also, I would like to make a significant note that Wikpedia admins have edited this page from the version you have trying to revert back to with out any valid reason. There on every bit of edit has been scrutinzed before it went into the article. Also, peacock words that you mentioned are being being edited by other editor as well. Issue with Nirmal Baba

Hi Noopur28, my name is Lord Roem, and I help out with the Arbitration Committee. From your short statement there, it seems you're having a content dispute with another editor. If that's the case, have you tried opening a Request for Comment to gain broader community comments on the issue? If you have, or you're concerned this is just between a few editors, maybe following the instructions in filing a request at the dispute resolution noticeboard will be fruitful.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask; just leave a note on my talk page. Best, Lord Roem (talk) 03:36, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What is, and is not, vandalism

[edit]

I warned the other editors about this as well - you need to be more precise in how you use the term vandalism on Wikipedia. Rastaogni's edits were not vandalism but an editorial disagreement. You terming them as such in your edit summaries does NOT help things at all. Please read through WP:NOTVAND. Also, your blind revert did get rid of the useful edits I've done. I'm not very pleased that you did that, rather than try to merge the material from your preferred version into the article. I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to remake some of the changes. Honestly, I'm seriously considering reverting back as some of the sections in your preferred version do not belong in the article. I'm hoping you'll consider this. 76.205.1.40 (talk) 14:15, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please excuse the last part - frustrations from day taking over a bit. The part of vandalism is something I think you need to consider though. Basically, if the other person is making a good-faith effort (from their view) to improve the article, it's not vandalism even if you disagree with the material. Even if they push and push, it's still not vandalism by Wikipedia standards. Calling it such, on Wikipedia, can be considered a personal attack which can draw unwanted attention to you. Here are some of the dispute resolution processes that can help you when you're in a dispute. For this article, the BLP Noticeboard and NPOV Noticeboard will probably be quite helpful. There is already a BLPN post about this article. 76.205.1.40 (talk) 18:20, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Asaram Bapu discussions

[edit]

Consider checking Talk:Asaram Bapu first before making changes. The changes you are making were being discussed at talk page simultaneously. --TitoDutta 19:01, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I edited after reading the discussions there. I don't have an issue with 'rape' as a term. My problem was that the quote on molestation versus rape wasn't attributed so it seemed like 'police' (Delhi or Jodhpur?) first booked him under rape then molestation. I removed the vivid graphic details of touching and caressing because I don't see why they are relevant to the developments in this case. The case is about sexual harassment largely and those details seemed unnecessary. Noopur28 (talk)
  • Discuss first. We can't read mind. And what you have said above, you could tell the same thing at the talk page. I personally agree to your edit, but, there was not any consensus there still and we were waiting for Writ's reply. -- TitoDutta 19:13, 2 September 2013‎ (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Be Nice. There is no reason to discuss my edits because I am not disputing what you guys are discussing. I am simply rewriting the information in a more encyclopedic manner. If I feel unsure about why something should stay or go, I will definitely put it up for discussion. Thanks Noopur28 (talk)
  • Unnecessary link to be nice essay. Your edits may or may not be disruptive, but, at least the last edit has directly hampered the discussion of the talk page. You neither commented not waited so that we could finish our discussion. In other words, when someone starts making changes which is being discussed, the discussion gets distracted. In case, you have read the recent discussions, Writ was questioned for the edit and his reply is more or less satisfactory. But, the removal has already been done. Thankfully, your edit was over all constructive. --TitoDutta 19:39, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I am tired of dealing with protectionist guardians of Wikipedia. I make edits in good faith and have a coherent logic informing why I write something or remove it. This discussion seems futile and more in the direction of correcting my behavior. I choose to engage the least over talk pages and I also believe that you are exaggerating my "disruptive behavior". Moreover, there is no rule stating that all editors should engage with existing discussions on the article and only then edit.Noopur28 (talk)
  • Who has told your edits were disruptive? Those were constructive. The point with which I started: Consider checking Talk:Asaram Bapu first before making changes. The changes you are making were being discussed at talk page simultaneously. Read that I did not say "you must participate in the discussions. But, if you do so, it'll be helpful. --TitoDutta 19:59, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Refer your comments above: "Discuss first" <-- hardly sounds like a suggestion. I believe it is called an assertive statement. Also, "Your edits may or may not be disruptive, but, at least the last edit has directly hampered the discussion of the talk page" <--ummm WP:WHOCARES. I choose to close this here. Noopur28 (talk)
  • An unwanted misunderstanding. Your edit has hampered the discussion (but, the edit was constructive, in other words, for the article it might be fine, but, may not be same for the discussion, one is article and another is talk page). It is expected (and what I suggested) that when editors are discussing an issue, allow them to finish the discussion first. When you make an edit which is being discussed the discussion becomes irrelevant.
Last line (which was also the first line: Consider checking Talk:Asaram Bapu first before making changes. The changes you are making were being discussed at talk page simultaneously. --TitoDutta 20:26, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • And just for information, the reaction I expected after giving the suggestions is like this: Yes, I am following and will follow the discussion. And you have also agreed that my edits were constructive. So, there should not be any trouble at this moment. Thanks for pointing to the discussion. [sign], not this unexpected misunderstanding. --TitoDutta 20:34, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have not read the article. I have not read the talk page of the article as well. But by reading the discussion here, I too think that it is over protection attitude. Writing that I expect following reply ---- is also a kind of instruction. If an action needs to be taken, it should be taken with the rules assuming good faiths. Rationalising the actions with over protective attitude is surely not the solution in my opinion. I may be wrong. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. --Abhijeet Safai (talk) 05:23, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Kindly correct me if I am wrong. — I am not going to spend anymore time. Yes, you don't need to read before commenting. Reading is a waste of time. Anyway, enough misunderstanding already. So, let's stop here. --TitoDutta 05:35, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Papad

[edit]
A plate of Papad/Papadum for you
Here is a plate of Papad for you. Papad is a thin, crisp disc-shaped Indian food typically based on a seasoned dough made from black gram (urad flour), fried or cooked with dry heat. Flours made from other sources such as lentils, chickpeas, rice, or potato, can be used. In South India it is called Papadum.
Asaram Bapu article has been a headache for me for last one year or so. Unnecessary disputes/misunderstanding isnot expected.
Thank you.

Hi Noopur, I just heard of your work on writing about more women in India. So, I thought I would begin with my mother, Padma Shri receiver, educator, and much more. It was rejected immediately & account blocked. So, then I proceeded unblocking the account & going about contributing a different way.

Would you take a look at this & let me know what I am missing?

I will contribute more if am able & I can.

A tag has been placed on DPS MMS Scandal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://ronsblo.blogspot.com/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Notice

The article DPS MMS scandal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No lasting significance.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
