PYHU image
Hello, please can you leave File:PutYourHandsUpAus.png on http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Put_Your_Hands_Up_(If_You_Feel_Love), as I got a bot message today telling me it wasn't linked on any articles, despite it being on said article.
Someone has since reversed your edit, but the image is of sufficiently low quality and I added all the required details when uploading it. Also, many, many articles have alternative cover art images on them. Thank you. (Paul237 (talk) 19:24, 20 June 2011 (UTC))
- So why do several articles have alternative covers if they're not allowed? I know you were against the article in AfD, but it's been allowed now, so please don't seek to ruin it. I'm not going to enter into an edit war, though. How do I escalate it? You're not an administrator, so I'd prefer to discuss with someone of authority rather than you. Paul237 (talk) 21:59, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Same applies to you, mate. You don't seem to understand that your argument is faulty. If a picture of Minogue on a plain blue background does nothing to enhance the reader's understanding of an article, why would the main single cover enhance their understanding? Neither image tells you anything about the song; you'd need to read the article for that. But you're saying one image is fine while the other isn't. Taio Cruz's "Higher" has an alternative single cover. Why is that deemed okay? Why does it enhance the reader's understanding of the article more than Minogue on a plain blue background? I'd laugh if it wasn't so ridiculous. Paul237 (talk) 22:44, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- As I thought, you haven't addressed any of the points I've raised. Instead you've just regurgitated your interpretation of a rule (interpretation being the operative word), and called me rude, despite the fact you've insulted me three times on my page and sworn at me too. It's a shame you can't enter into mature discussion. You're right about one thing, though, this is over. I won't add the image back. Hope you enjoy your little victory. Paul237 (talk) 23:05, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Music Sample
Hello. I'm sorry to come by out of nowhere, but do you think you could create a sample for Beyoncé's Countdown (Beyoncé Knowles song)? I've never herd the song because the album was not officially release in my country (U.S.), but would it be possible for the sample you create to contain the lyrics "My baby is a 10/We dressing to the nine/He pick me up at eight/Make me feel so lucky seven/He kiss me in his six/We be making love in five/Still the one I do this four/I’m trying to make a three/From that two/He still the one" plus whatever follows afterwards in the time allowed for the sample. Please let me know if i'm not being too specific or anything, and thank you so much for this! :] Theuhohreo (talk) 02:16, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hahahaha! Yea btw, sorry about the randomness, i really don't want you to feel like your being used or anything :x. I've just seen you upload a good amount of samples here on wiki and was wondering :]. Ummm i'm not sure which one, i would guess the second time? If that is okay with you :D
- And ahhhhhh i know! It's been killing me that it's been out for 3 weeks! But i actually waited this entire time surviving only on the singles! I just have two more days to go before i am inticed by the heaven of King Bey! Hahahahahahaaa! But anyways, thank you so much for this, and please let me know if its a bother :] Theuhohreo (talk) 04:33, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you soooooo much! And really? I'd love to hear your opinion of it, good or bad. i take everything into account before i listen to a new album. makes it that much more anxious :3 Theuhohreo (talk) 01:48, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Really? I am going to be honest, i see that type of vibe too. I've never listened to anything yet, but i hear its dominated by ballads, and altho the woman takes ballads to another level, i fear that she filled it with "Satellites"-type ballads :/. And I STAN for this woman so hard, every time i tried to get a sneak at this album, i would picture her over me nodding her head in disappointment! LMFAOOO!! But tonight at midnight, i shall have it on my ipod to judge for myself! I leave the next day for a trip overseas, so i get to analyze this album for a pure 11 hours! #HEAVEN! :D Theuhohreo (talk) 02:59, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yesyess of course i will! But that'll be in a month, because Im not gonna have internet while away :/
- But yea i know what you mean about MC. I really seriously LOVED Emancipation and E=MC2.. Memoirs wasn't too bad, but she has such a beautiful voice, she had no business with 808's.. Leave that mess to talentless hacks (*cough*KE$HA*cough*) Hahahaaaa! But I will admit, "Angel's Cry" was my jam for the entire winter! Theuhohreo (talk) 03:09, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- I know right? and i was just getting addicted to wiki :p. But yea, lately The-Dream and Tricky have been bad news (Ciara).. Maybe they need to lay back... Loll. Darkchild needs to find his way back in the game! :D. Goodnight! Seeya in a couple months! Theuhohreo (talk) 03:14, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Good article problems
Hey Nathan. I am having some issues with Mattchewbaca. Recently, I reviewed Howling Bells (album), which was an article that was up for good article nomination by Mattchewbaca. After a thorough review of the article, I decided to fail it because it had many issues that could not be fixed in a week according to the good article criteria. Ever since then, it seems like this user is trying to get revenge on me by reviewing both of the articles I currently have up for nomination which are First Time (Lifehouse song) and Who We Are (Lifehouse album). He is also reassessing Halfway Gone, which is the first good article I completed that passed by Adabow back in September of 2010. After looking at the info of this user, he has about 600 edits and has only been a member since February 2011. I have come to you because I honestly do not know what to do with this situation. I have worked hard on articles trying to get them to good article status, and this user doesn't seem very experienced, which makes me want to have someone else review the articles I have up for nomination right now. Your input would be greatly appreciated with this. Thanks. - Rp0211 (talk2me) 05:26, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

- The Music and lyrics section? It's from TEOM article. I couldn't of written it any better myself so I decided to leave it. I added in the composition stuff though, regarding key etc. Take it as a compliment lol, I would. Calvin • 999 18:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- ahaa. Btw, Mariah sang Fly Like a Bird on Good Morning America along with It's Like That, We Belong Together and Shake it Off in April 2005, but I can't find any sources for it, even on google news. Technically, this was the first time it was performed. That's why I didn't write "performed for the first time" when writing about the Shelter from the Storm perf. This isn't Fly Like a Bird related, but it is Mariah related lol. I was just on the Hero article and i was looking at the Covers section and noticed that the fact that the 2008 X Factor finalists, who covered the song for Help for Heroes which ended up hitting #1 on the charts, isn't included, I think it is a very notable cover. I'd like it if you added it in with more emphasis on the cover, as the finalists sang it without Mariah as well previously (I know the duet is mentioned in the previous section). Alexandra Burke also covered it by herself at a show for Prince Charles' charity :). Calvin • 999 01:23, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- lol the Alexandra Burke cover? My teachers at school always said I didn't check things thoroughly enough hahaha. Cool, it looks really good :). Did you still mention that it was nominated for BMA? Calvin • 999 20:47, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- I feel bad, I don't feel as if I contributed as much :/. Calvin • 999 20:51, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- Lol, I'm not gonna write "significantly expanded" or anything, because I didn't, i'll just write "helped promote" or "contributed" lol. There is one problem I have with it though, and it's a problem I have with quite a lot of articles about various different singer's songs lol. Calvin • 999 21:06, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- You got it in one lol. The fact that a "professional" on Musicnotes has said her highest note is E5, absolutely infuriates me! Calvin • 999 21:14, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
- No I don't, but the highest note is a Bb6. E5 isn't even the highest note she belts. This is what annoys me about Wikipedia, just because there is a source from a website saying it is something, doesn't mean it is correct. I like Rihanna because she has fantastic songs and can perform. Just because she doesn't have a wide range or have a voice like Mariah or Whitney, doesn't make her any less credible. She has a very distinctive voice, like you know it is her without even seeing her, she has an effortless and stunning vibrato as well. No one else has a sound like her in music industry atm, that is why she is so successful, because no one can compete with that. I completely disagree that her voice is "atrocious", I can think of a lot worse! Also, I can't find a source for the BMA, but it's on her list of awards and nominations, so really it should be removed from there as well. Calvin • 999 10:39, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

You can ask Avi, he will give you the issue, volume, etc for the physical copy with the Bubbling Under chart :) Yes, Say Somethin' is you know, sexy lol :D Novice7 (talk) 04:38, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Offhand, that image looks legit. It's relatively high-resolution, low-quality, and still has the EXIF data intact - all of which point to it being user-taken. I also can't find the image anywhere else on the internet using tineye.com or a quick google image search. Unless there are some specific concerns about the image (and if there are, let me know and I'll add my two cents), I think it's fine. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:01, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

- Congratulations MTV Unplugged (Mariah Carey EP) has passed. Its actually a little gem of an article. It could reach FA if there is some information added about the legacy it had (e.g. more clarity about how much it sold, aired and the impact it had on Carey's career. On a side note, could you please message me when there are changes for On the Floor? (i don't watch the subpages). Thanks — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 15:56, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- EOM is one of my favourite albums of all time. I'd be happy to offer some advice (informal pointers) in the near future once I've done my exams and some of my GAs. Oh dear... If between our communication its not finished by Sunday (assuming I satisfy all current comments, but you're still unhappy with it) then feel free to fail it. Also I have a few issues (i've not attempted the current comments yet) mainly with your assertions about single sales or shipments. Everywhere I've listed a certification it is for single sales because per List of music recording certifications, certificates in those countries are awarded for sales or can include digital download sales. Labels do not ship singles to digital retailers. Additionally the CD single was only released in Germany (per the sources in the current article). — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 01:19, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

If you are aware of sources that would be helpful to this conversation that have not already been presented, that would be helpful; there's no comment about the relative musical talents of various singers that is at all helpful in improving the encyclopedia. It would be helpful if you confine your comments to what would help make the encyclopedia better. Thank you. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:51, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
